The South Bohemian summer on the Revolving Auditorium is as usual filled with famous names, either of the performers or authors of presented pieces. This new season will bring three premieres: a comedy Decameron, a ballet Romeo and Juliet and an opera Rigoletto.
A total of 9 different pieces in several repetitions can be viewed during the season from 7 June to 8 September. If you are one of the regular visitors, you will be please by the three premieres of this year. The theatrical summer on the Revolving Auditorium will be opened by a famous comedy by the Italian Renaissance poet Giovanni Boccaccio - Decameron adapted by an experienced duo of authors Martin Glaser - Olga Šubrtová. The next premiere is a ballet based on a drama by another famous Renaissance author, the Englishman William Shakespeare - Romeo and Juliet. Ballet ensemble director Attila Egerházi is the author of choreography and director of this love story of two young people from Verona. The ballet will be accompanied by expressive music by Sergey Prokoffiev. The final premier will be an opera at the beginning of August. It will be Rigoletto, one of the most famous operas by Giuseppe Verdi. The story of fatherly love, lovers´ passion and a cruel curse will be directed by Jana Kališová.
If you were unable to make it to the Revolving Auditorium last year, there will be several re-runs of pieces from past seasons. Among them Shakespeare's comedy As You Like It, Goldoni's Servant of Two Masters, a family fairytale Cat in the Boots or an adventurous story of Robin Hood. The famous Argentinean tenor José Cura will return to Český Krumlov after one year in the title role of Canio in the opera Pagliacci.
