Český Krumlov's longest-running festival, whose concerts represent the peak of the town's cultural summer. The festival features a rich mix of musical genres - symphonic as well as chamber concerts, classical jazz, folk, as well as concerts thematically linked to culinary experiences.
Twenty eight outstanding evenings have been prepared, drawing largely from the field of classical music, featuring chamber concerts, recitals, organ concerts and performances in the Chateau’s Baroque Theatre, as well as open-air concerts in other music genres such as jazz, folk or folklore, offering more than just musical experiences. Each year, the festival organisers are proud to present not only well known Czech artists, but also international stars who don’t come to the Czech Republic very often, or indeed, who have come for the very first time, as well as showcasing young musicians, laureates of prestigious international competitions. The festival programme is carefully selected so that there is something for every music enthusiast.
A new item on the 17th IMF programme will be a series of performances of Verdi’s opera La forza del destino (The Force of Destiny) at the Revolving Auditorium. As well as the premiere on 18 July, which will launch the entire festival, there will also be another 5 performances (19 – 23.7.) Two, star studded international casts will include opera stars from the Metropolitan Opera and other major opera houses under the baton of John Keenan or Tomáš Hála. Soloists will include baritone Richard Zeller and tenor Allan Glassman, who both received enthusiastic ovations from the public last year.
