Český Krumlov State Castle with its architectural standard, cultural tradition, and expanse ranks among the most important historic sights in the central European region. Originally Gothic castle from 13th century was enlarged in 14th century and it was rebuit in the Renaissance style in 16th century. In 17th and 18th centuries the castle was modified in the Baroque and the Rococo style.After the castle tour, but also after the visitor sees the garden and the whole area of the castle he or she can feel like in the Middle Ages when the nobility walked through the corridors.
Accessibility by road:
The castle is situated in the city centre which is pedestrian zone. The car can be parked in the car parks marked by the traffic signs. The nearest car park is P1 Jelení Garden and P2 Bellow the Post Office.

The entire 2nd Guided Tour in Český Krumlov Castle focuses on the history of the Schwarzenberg family. Castle Museum's new exhibition was opened on January 11, 2011 by the National Heritage Institute. Museum visitors have a unique opportunity to look into the secrets of Castle depositories that recall the most important events related to Rosenberg, Eggenberg and Schwarzenberg Krumlov estate owners.

Castle Lapidarium in Český Krumlov
The main cellar area, originally unified, is 48 m long and 8.5 meters high, while the wagon vault of the cellar is 4.6 m high at its peak. The spaces have been newly arranged and are now used as a lapidarium where the original statues from Cloak Bridge and Castle Garden are stored.

The Tower is the symbol of the town of Český Krumlov, of its history and beauty. It is „The towerest of all towers„ as once characterised by Karel Čapek. After the 162- stair-climb the visitors can enjoy a beautiful view of the city and its vicinity.

Baroque Castle Garden was founded in 17th century. It is situated on the rise and the slope adjacent to the complex of castle buildings on Vth Courtyard of Český Krumlov Castle from the southwest.Thanks to the castle gardeners´solicitous care the castle visitors who decide to walk to the garden can enjoy beautiful mosaics of colourful flowbeds bellow august trees all the way to the pool in the end of the garden.

Wenceslas Cellars
The extensive cellar area under IVth Courtyard of Český Krumlov Castle occupies the entire ground plan of the courtyard as well as the frame of Upper Castle wings. Presently this unique area under the patronage of the Czech Ceramics Design Agency is used for exhibitions of contemporary Czech and foreign artists. /A part of exhibition of the Czech Ceramics Design Agency is located in the rooms of the Churn on IInd Castle Courtyard.

The history of bear-keeping at Český Krumlov Castle goes back to 16th century, the era of the last Rosenbergs. Bears have been kept in the bear moat since 1707. Nowadays the area for bear keeping is adapted for the bears to be most enjoyed. Families with children like to have a walk and in the end to watch the bears in the moat.
