International Music Festival Český Krumlov

You will have a hard time finding a longer-running musical event of this size on the Czech cultural scene. The festival has gained immense repute due to the liaison of the attractive ambience of the historical town with music concerts of different genres from the 15th century up to the present, featuring a number of famous domestic and international artists. The festival is not only the highlight of the Krumlov cultural summer but clearly a leading cultural event in the Czech Republic. This is more than proved by renowned artists whose names have become associated with the festival and many of whom have returned to the festival repeatedly, such as singer Eva Urbanová, violinists Gabriela Demeterová and Pavel Šporcl, the American sopranos Renée Fleming and Alison Bolshoi, conductorMaxim Shostakovich, Argentinean tenor José Cura, and many others.

  • Is a cultural event with a 18-year old tradition
  • Is the longest musical show in the Czech Republic, starting from mid July till the third week in August
  • Is member of the Association of Musical Festivals of the Czech Republic
  • Introduces important domestic and foreign artists
  • Offers a wide musical spectrum from 15th to 21st century
  • Focuses on the following genres: classical music, jazz, folk, folklore, musicals and opera
  • Takes place in many attractive and interesting areas around Český Krumlov and its surroundings (Svornosti square, Brewery garden, Zlatá Koruna monastery church, Vyšší Brod and others) and in particular in the unique spaces of the State Castle and Chateau Český Krumlov (Masqued Hall, IInd Castle courtyard, Castle Riding Hall, Southern Terraces of the Castle, Summer Riding Hall, Revolving Auditorium etc.)
  • Is the biggest cultural event of the South Bohemian region, visited by many politicians, members of the diplomatic corps, important business personalities and numerous visitors from home and abroad
  • Is organized by Auviex s.r.o. jointly with International Musical Festival Český Krumlov o.s. and the National Heritage Institute, branch České Budějovice
  • Is held under the auspices and with personal attendance of the President of the Czech Republic, Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, Hetman of the South Bohemian Region and ambassadors of countries of the most significant performing artists

International Music Festival Český Krumlov is a multi-genre musical show, thus differing from other festivals and addressing a wider audience. The script is based around the concept of the Festival and its position in the Czech Republic and Europe. The genres represented include opera, symphonic concerts, chamber music concerts, jazz, popular national evenings with gastronomy, opera gala concerts, recitals, choir concerts etc. The script maximizes the potential of unique interiors and exteriors of Český Krumlov. The Festival presents worldwide famous stars, Czech artists and last but not least also young budding artists.
