Classic car enthusiasts will be in for a treat in Český Krumlov on Friday, 4 September. The historic town centre will welcome vehicles that have written their names into automotive history. The 17th edition of the South Bohemia Classic, an international regularity rally for historic cars, will bring up to 160 crews from several countries around the world to the town. A commentary zone will be set up on Svornosti Square, where all the classic cars will be presented to local residents and visitors during a short break.
The valuable classics will begin arriving in the town through the Budějovice Gate after 7:30 pm. They will first take part in a timed precision test in the courtyard of the Port 1560 complex, before continuing through Nové Město and Latrán to Svornosti Square. A commentary zone will be set up by the fountain. During the several-minute stop and the ceremonial finish of the rally's first stage, visitors will learn interesting facts not only about the crews but especially about their cars.
The impressive starting field promises a spectacular show. Spectators can look forward to legendary as well as lesser-known marques, including Jaguar, MG, Triumph, Mercedes-Benz, Cadillac, Porsche, Austin-Healey, Chevrolet, Maserati, Ferrari, Marcos, Dodge, Škoda and Alfa Romeo. The oldest car in the field will be a 1931 MG C-Type, with which Curtis Liposcak from the United States will be making his return to South Bohemia for the event.
