Set in the heart of the American South, this is a story of love, freedom, and hope, a story that has become a symbol of human strength and vulnerability. Porgy and Bess, the famous work by George Gershwin, combines the world of opera with jazz, blues, and gospel singing. The opera will bring an intense musical and dramatic experience to the open air, performed by leading international soloists. The role of Porgy will be performed by the charismatic South African bass-baritone Bongani Justice Kubheka, winner of the Fleur du Cap Award, alongside the charming soprano Miriam Clark, whose voice has been heard on the biggest stages in Europe. The character of Sportin' Life will be played by the energetic tenor Ronald Samm, and the role of Serena by the world-renowned soprano Angela Renée Simpson. The Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc will accompany the performance under the baton of Alena Hron.
