Bear Christmas

Even the Krumlov bears Maria Theresa, Polyxena and William are celebrating Christmas, and you can give them gifts

Early on Christmas Eve morning, a group of bear friends led by the bear keeper Jan "Miša" Černý go to the castle moat at 6 a.m. and place several Christmas trees in the moat, which are decorated with sweet candies, gingerbread, Christmas candy and various fruits (the treats are hung on a cotton wool, which dissolves completely when eaten). They also add gifts from visitors. These can be brought in until 13:00 on December 24 and the treat boxes will be located in the II. castle courtyard.

After 10:00, visitors watch the bears being released into the enclosure from the bridge and gallery. The bears will enthusiastically dig into the prepared treats and soon there will not be a crumb left after the sweet feast. Know that such feasts are rare, as the bears are regularly given a different diet. Bears consume 160 kg of baked goods a week, and cottage cheese, yoghurt, fruit and vegetables, glucose and honey are also an essential part of their diet.
