The Bellaria Summer Palace represents a rarely preserved example of Rococo garden architecture, unique in its kind within the Czech Republic. The tour focuses not only on the architectural development of this exceptional building but also showcases the transformations of the castle garden and the grand garden festivities that took place here.
The model for the elongated octagonal structure of the summer palace, dating back to the mid-18th century, was likely the Upper Belvedere of Prince Eugene of Savoy. In the underground level of Bellaria, there is a Baroque kitchen, a room containing the mechanism of the so-called magical table – a lift transporting dishes from the lower floors to the banquet hall – or an artificial grotto. The walls of the grotto are decorated with stucco ornamentation, into which thousands of seashells, glass fragments, and mirror pieces have been embedded. The walls of the halls on both upper floors are adorned with murals by František Jakub Prokyš.
