On Saturday, 9 May, the 55th edition of the Veteran Rallye Křivonoska will take place — an international competition of historic motorcycles and automobiles. This year's route will also take participants through Český Krumlov.
The event is organised by the Veteran Car Club České Budějovice, founded in 1962. The first edition of the competition was held in 1970. The rallye is regularly attended by crews from Austria, Germany, Slovakia and Denmark; in the past, participants from Poland, Canada, New Zealand, France, England, Wales and the Isle of Man have also taken part.
The competition is open to vehicles manufactured up to 1945. This year's edition will also feature a special category for Douglas motorcycles. Machines over a hundred years old will also appear on the starting line — such as Douglas motorcycles from 1910 and 1914, and automobiles of the brands Franklin (1906), Buick (1908) and Renault (1914). The total number of starters is expected to be approximately 300 vehicles.
The public can view the historic vehicles on Saturday morning at the start in the Křivonoska campsite. A midday break combined with a vehicle exhibition is planned in the courtyard and surrounding area of the Krumlov Brewery (Port 1560) from 11:30 to 14:00.
At 14:00, the crews will begin moving to Náměstí Svornosti (Svornosti Square), where the ceremonial start of the second stage will take place from 14:00 to 15:30.
