Dyškanti Vocal Ensemble | concert

The Habsburgs on the Bohemian Royal Throne and Music in Bohemia 1526–1612

From 1526, the Habsburgs took their seat on the Bohemian royal throne, and the Lands of the Bohemian Crown became part of a vast monarchy for 400 years. The 16th century was marked not only by religious and military conflicts, but also by an extraordinary flourishing of musical culture. The influences emanating from the courts of the music-loving Habsburgs reached even the somewhat conservative environment of Bohemian towns, where the works of prominent European composers serving princely courts coexisted with music by their imitators from the burgher milieu.

At the concert of the ensemble Dyškanti, alongside compositions dedicated directly to the Habsburgs, audiences will hear music from the world of Rudolfine Prague and from Český Krumlov during the era of the last Rosenbergs.
