The Marian pilgrimage in Zlatá Koruna is a reminder of the ancient history and unique spirit of this extraordinary place. It is accompanied by a rich cultural program.
The program begins with a solemn mass in the Monastery Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, followed by a procession to the painting of the Madonna of Zlatá Koruna and a prayer in the Abbot's Chapel.
The Gothic panel painting of the Madonna of Zlatá Koruna was created between 1410 and 1420, likely directly for the local Cistercians monastery. For centuries, the Madonna was regarded as the patron and protector of the monastery, and it remains one of its most important artistic treasures.
Program
- 10:30 – Pilgrimage Mass / Monastery Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary
- 11:30 – Procession to the painting of the Madonna of Zlatá Koruna
- 11:45 – Prayer at the Madonna of Zlatá Koruna in the Abbey Chapel
- from 12:00 – Fair, demostrations of traditional crafts, children´s program / park in Zlatá Koruna
The afternoon part will feature the Good Times Big Band orchestra with swing melodies and brass music. In front of the cultural center, fairground attractions for children, face painting, stalls with small items, and traditional refreshments will be ready all day long.
The Marian Pilgrimage will offer an opportunity to commemorate the spiritual tradition of Zlatá Koruna while spending a pleasant Sunday with music and a program for the whole family.
