Baroque Opera: Händel – Alessandro Severo | Festival Krumlov

Handel's opera in a contemporary interpretation by the Collegium Marianum under the direction of Jana Semerádová

The Baroque opera-pasticcio Alessandro Severo tells about the great jealousy of a scheming mother and the great love and forgiveness of a loving wife. In honour of George Frideric Handel, whose birth will be 350 years ago this year, it will be performed twice in one of the world's best-preserved Baroque theatres. Under the direction of Jana Semerádová, Collegium Marianum will present the story based on the real life of the last Severus on the Roman throne. The audience can expect an enlightened interpretation of solo parts and orchestral accompaniments, unique choreography, period costumes and make-up. All this will take place in a unique monument in Český Krumlov, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
