The roots of this ensemble date back to 1071 and are inextricably linked to the Augustinian monastery of St. Florian in Upper Austria. For more than nine centuries, the ensemble has cherished the tradition of sacred music. The concert program will offer a colorful musical journey through the centuries, from Renaissance compositions by Palestrina to works by Mozart, Bruckner, and Britten, to contemporary composers such as Karl Jenkins and Frode Fjellheim. The second part of the evening will feature secular choral music: Renaissance songs, English and Scottish ballads, and popular 20th-century compositions. Under the direction of Markus Stumpner, the choir regularly performs at prestigious European venues and festivals and collaborates with leading orchestras.
