Marionette Museum – Fairy-Tale House

A family collection of historical and contemporary puppets and marionettes from the workshops of South-Bohemian, Czech and international master woodcarvers and puppeteers. Exhibits present more than 400 puppets, mostly arranged in themed groups.

What you will see

The main attraction is a puppet theatre, where you can use puppets to act out numerous fairy tales for your children. On the first of the two floors of the exhibition you can see, for example, puppets of the lords of the château and fictional characters such as fireflies, Rusalka, Spejbl and Hurvínek, and many more.

In the attic of the building, fairy-tale nooks conceal water goblins, demons, dragons and bandits from the surrounding forests, and other mysterious creatures. Part of the attic is dedicated to puppets and props from the not-so-distant past, while another part is devoted to contemporary puppeteers.
