Festival Krumlov
The Festival Krumlov (Český Krumlov International Music Festival) since 1992 has become an important part of the European cultural calendar thanks to the unique combination of the enchanting scenery of the historic town and music of the highest artistic standard.
The festival offers a wide range of classical music from the 15th to the 21st century, including symphonic works, opera, ballet, choir pieces and chambre music. The festival combines music with ballet, drama, pantomime, and original stage design. Concerts are held in the interiors and exteriors of the Krumlov castle, in the brewery gardens, as well as in other representative and experimental areas of the town. The uniqueness of the environment and the very strong atmosphere has attracted many leading foreign and Czech performers to Krumlov. Every year, the Krumlov festival presents the best of the world music scene.
Over the years, the festival has welcomed such world music personalities as Plácido Domingo, Jonas Kaufmann, Renée Fleming, José Cura, Ramón Vargas, Broadway soloists or Piotr Beczała. Czech artists include Adam Plachetka, Eva Urbanová, Dagmar Pecková, Václav Hudeček, Pavel Šporcl, Jiří Bárta and many others. At the same time, the festival also gives opportunities to young and emerging artists.
From July 14 to August 5, the 32nd season of the Festival Krumlov will offer 18 concerts of the main program, that take place in 12 exceptional venues in and around our charming town, in four of them for the first time. Dozens of concerts of various genres, art and dance workshops, yoga with live music, and more will be offered free of charge in the Festival zone. The Festival Zone is a fringe festival that offers free cross-genre concerts, interviews with artist, sports and educational activities and art workshops for everybody. From Friday to Sunday enjoy a musical picnic in the monastery garden, art workshops, yoga with live music, open-air cinema and more.
