A little bit of history: The author of the Revolving Auditorium is Joan Brehms, who was the head of set design and stage designer at the České Budějovice theatre after the WWII. The first improvised revolving platform turned for the forst time in 1958, with only sixty spectators. In 1989-1993 a general reconstruction took place, which gave the Revolving Auditorium its present appearance. The new turntable, with two-directional movement provided by four electric motors and weighing 650 tons, has a capacity of 644 spectators.
