The Galiani Gypsy Jazz band follows in the tradition of the great Romani musicians whose experimental, improvisational and exceptionally virtuosic music incorporates a wealth of musical influences into their own individual style. The band is led by violinist Milan Galyáš, who is also a member of the North Bohemian Philharmonic Orchestra in Teplice and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, where he regularly tours around the world with such luminaries as Andrea Bocelli and Enrico Morricone, among others. In addition to the violin, the band also includes the clarinet, played by Miroslav Filko, a graduate of the Conservatory in Košice, who is now a teacher and one of the most renowned clarinetists in the Czech Republic and Slovakia (among others, he collaborated with Hans Zimmermann on the soundtrack to the film Sherlock Holmes). The band is rounded out by David Rakaš, a pianist, also a graduate of the Conservatory, and Miroslav Holub on guitar and double bass.
The basis of the Galiani Gypsy Jazz band's music is classical music, which is enriched with Romani czardas and jazz compositions, all in a distinctive interpretative concept, typical of the best Romani musicians.
