Pavel Haas Quartet | Festival Krumlov

Dvořák's classical form and Haas's expressive avant-garde performed by the highly acclaimed Pavel Haas Quartet

Pavel Haas Quartet, one of the most renowned chamber ensembles of today, will offer an evening dedicated to Czech music in the Masquerade Hall. Their interpretation, appreciated for its extraordinary precision, expressive depth, and emotional power, will highlight two different musical worlds. The program will include Antonín Dvořák's String Quartet in C major, Op. 61, a work full of melodic freshness and rhythms inspired by Czech folklore, and Pavel Haas's String Quartet No. 2, "From the Monkey Mountains," which combines Moravian motifs with jazz rhythms and modern energy. The distinctive rhythms of the second half of the evening are enhanced by percussion, performed for Český Krumlov by Antonín Procházka. The concert will offer not only an encounter between two eras, but also a glimpse into the development of Czech music, from the melodic tradition of Romanticism to the bold originality of the 20th century.
