Through virgin nature to the Olšina Pond

The trip combines a bike ride through the virgin countryside of the military training area Boletice with a rest by the Lipno reservoir.

Český Krumlov - Hodňov (by train)

The train journey from Český Krumlov to Hodňov takes 39 minutes, the stop is located close to the pond and the Olšina nature trail. (You can extend your trip by about 8 km if you take the train to Horní Plané and from there go to Olšina and Krumlov).

2.

Olšina

Olšina Lake with an area of 138 hectares is one of the highest fish breeding and propagation ponds in the Czech Republic. Its existence is documented by the first written mention from 1458. On its shore there is a fishing bastion with an exhibition about South Bohemian fish farming. Refreshments are available in the Olšina recreational resort, where you will also find a new information centre and the start of a new 7.3 km long nature trail through real Šumava wetlands, peat bogs and adjacent biotopes. From Olšina, you will then continue on your bike on the 1255 to Hodňov and from there on the 1254 to Horní Planá.

If you don't like cycling

Non-cyclists can take the route there and back by train or car. The Olšina nature trail is accessible all year round and in winter, when there’s snow, you can pack cross-country skis. Near the visitor center there’s a starting point for a ski trail.
