Winter walk full of lights

Experience the magic of Advent in Český Krumlov with a walk full of lights. The spots along the route also serve as inspiration for capturing yourself in the glow of the lights.

1.

Seminary Garden

The Seminary Garden offers one of the most beautiful views of the castle and the alleys of the old town. During the winter evenings, it will be illuminated by hundreds of lights – the bears will especially delight children, and the photo frame will capture your experience.

Christmas Alley

This year, a few local enthusiasts created a beautifully glowing Christmas alley in Šatlavská Street near Svornosti Square. It’s sure to light up the eyes of not only the youngest visitors.

Svornosti Square

The Svornosti Square is the main venue for the Advent programme every year. From November 22, 2025, to January 4, 2026, the Christmas Market takes place here. Additionally, every Friday and Saturday, you can look forward to concerts by local and visiting bands and musicians, as well as events for families with children. The illuminated Advent stalls, together with the beautiful Christmas tree, ensure the perfect warm Christmas atmosphere.

Radniční Street

Radniční Street, on your way from Svornosti Square to Latrán, will reveal to you a beautiful view of the most towered of all towers, and you will also be enchanted by the festively illuminated Lazebnický Bridge.

Ostrov (Island)

Hop into the sleigh and let yourself be carried away... You’ll find it on a small island below the castle, between the main flow of the Vltava River and an old mill canal. The illuminated sleigh, pulled by a two-meter-tall horse, can also be seen beautifully from the Lazebnický Bridge.

Latrán Street

Latrán is probably the best-known district and street in Český Krumlov. It was first recorded in the Rožmberk urbarium from the 1370s. It was alternately referred to in Czech as Latrán or in German as Latron. This busiest thoroughfare in the historic center of Český Krumlov is dotted with shops, restaurants, and cafes, and it connects you to the castle, monasteries, and the monastery and brewery gardens.

Port 1560

The courtyard of Port 1560 is also beautifully decorated for Christmas. We especially recommend a visit to Port for families with children – from November 29, 2025, to January 4, 2026, all children up to 15 years old have free entry to all exhibitions here. Explore town life in the Palace, see the historic Brewery, or visit the gallery exhibition with your kids.

And don’t miss the Saturday “lighting” on the Advent beer wreath – they are beer kegs! Every Saturday of Advent at 4:30 PM, one keg will be tapped and beer will be served for free. Cheers and happy holidays!
